[About Benifuuki] "Benifuuki" was registered in 1995 as a breed for black tea and semi-fermented tea at the Vegetable Tea Research Institute in Makurazaki, Kagoshima Prefecture. Freshly picked Benifuuki tea leaves from spring to autumn are processed immediately to preserve their freshness. In this way, we carefully select the tea leaves produced in various places in Kagoshima Prefecture, store them in a freezer in a vacuum state to keep them fresh throughout the year. Then, in small quantities, we blend and roast the tea leaves to make the most of the flavor of Benifuuki.
[About organic cultivation] Tea leaves are cultivated in various fields in Kagoshima Prefecture, but organically cultivated tea is cultivated by controlling the use of chemicals in its own garden and scattering from neighboring farms. Organic Benifuuki tea is even more health-conscious than tea leaves, as well as various agricultural products, are cultivated based on safe and secure standards.
Komaien's "Organic Benifuuki" is the highest quality Benifuuki cultivated in the excellent tea fields of Kagoshima. Not only is it rich in methylated catechins, it is also a delicious tea with little astringency. As Komaien, we are very grateful and grateful to be able to handle excellent tea leaves from the production area. Not only now, we will continue to provide delicious Benifuuki tea to everyone as a specialty store.
Komaien's Benifuuki contains first-grade tea as an ingredient. Benifuki tea is harvested from the first tea in April to the fourth tea in autumn. The umami component is mostly found in the 1st tea, and gradually decreases after the 2nd tea. However, the content of methylated catechins is higher in tea from summer to autumn. Komaien's organic Benifuuki tea is all made in the southern land of Kagoshima at a tea wholesaler that has been growing Kagoshima tea for more than 130 years. In these days when food safety and security are being called for, it is a wonderful tea wholesaler that is equipped with the latest technology and equipment and takes responsibility as a tea producer and sender.
Commitment of a wholesaler ① Purchasing
High-quality tea leaves are the source of the deliciousness of tea. Purchasing directly from contracted farmers in Kagoshima Prefecture and from tea farmers all over the prefecture at the tea market that is listed every day during the season is the most important job. What is important in the purchase method is to feel the brilliance of the tea leaves. Don't miss the ever-changing season of unrefined tea. There is a season for each variety and production area, and there is a perfect timing for tea picking for each tea plantation. From among many unrefined teas, we search for seasonal teas that we want to cherish by purifying our five senses. . Based on a relationship of trust built up over many years, we offer each other's requests and wisdom in everything from tea cultivation to tea processing.
The wholesaler's commitment ② gogumi (blend)
A blend is like an orchestra. There are teas that have the taste and aroma of the main melody like the first violin, clarinet that is rich in expression, and bassoon that supports depth in the bass. Conducting the rhythm, melody, and harmony played by each one is the real thrill of the tea master. "Komaien's Benifuukicha" is an exquisite blend of ingredients from Kagoshima's sun-kissed summer ingredients to the delicious first-class tea so that customers can drink it deliciously.
Efforts for food safety (FSSC22000)
Komaien's Benifuuki tea was the first food industry in Kagoshima Prefecture to acquire ISO22000 certification, an international standard for food safety, in November 2007, and in November 2012, the international food safety standard, which has advanced further from ISO22000. Manufactured at a tea wholesaler factory that has acquired FSSC22000 certification. In our daily work, we conduct inspections for each department according to the food safety manual. By conducting thorough safety management in this way, we are able to produce safe, secure and delicious tea.
In order to deliver "safety and security" to our customers, we are working on thorough quality control and daily study.
[About organically grown agricultural products] Organically grown tea is a cultivation method that does not use chemically synthesized pesticides, chemically synthesized fertilizers, or chemically synthesized soil conditioners for more than 3 years. Organic farming must be certified by a certification body authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Not only at the time of application, but also after certification, audits are conducted every year, and penalties are applied when violations occur. Only producers who have received this certification are allowed to sell products labeled as "organic farm products," "organic farming," or "organic XX" and the JAS mark. "Producers" and "processors" must also be registered and certified. In other words, it is considered to be the strictest standard for certification in Japan today. In addition, there are various certification standards such as pesticide-free cultivation, reduced pesticide cultivation, and chemical fertilizer-free cultivation.
Komaien's organic Benifuki is suitable for children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
About Komaien's Organic Tea
In order to label "organic" or "organic" on agricultural products and agricultural processed foods sold in Japan, it is obligatory to obtain certification from an organic JAS certification body. Komaien's organic Benifuuki tea is also delivered to our customers through thorough management and communication with accredited organizations. We purchase raw tea leaves with a clear production history, and the production history clearly states "who", "when", "what field", "how it was cultivated", etc. We have built a traceability system that manages it together with production records and traces back from the final product to the tea production record.
Komaien's organic Benifuuki tea is a variety of Benifuuki that was originally cultivated as a "black tea variety", and has been cultivated in its own way.
The efficacy of methylated catechin, one of the ingredients contained in Benifuuki tea, is attracting particular attention. Benifuki is a green tea with a very high content of methylated catechins! Substances that cause allergies are everywhere today. "It's not just the pollen season", more and more people are drinking it all year round.
Komaien's Benifuuki tea is in a fine powder state, but it is originally a tea leaf with a shape. The catechins contained in tea are extracted at a high temperature of 80 degrees or higher. Even powdered tea is no different. By placing the powdered tea in hot water for more than 1 minute, more methylated catechins are extracted.
